Graduate Internship Program

Church Overview

Full Gospel Tabernacle [FGT], known as the church you can call home exists to bless the community, city and nation in which we are planted. The main church is located in Taman Perindustrian UEP, Subang Jaya, which houses 4 congregations with services in English, Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia and Tamil. We have other branch churches, located in different towns in Malaysia as well as one in London, UK.

Our Mission is to fulfill the Great Commission, and to this end, we believe that FGT is called to plant new works and churches wherever God leads [see attached Mission Statement / Vision of the House.

The Graduate Program

As part of our growth, we are looking to train and release future leaders to be a blessing to churches and the community at large. We are looking for recent College / University Graduates who are willing commit to be trained for a 2-year period1, commencing every February each year.

Our goal is to develop a graduate’s2 ministerial and managerial capacity so that they can be effective servant-leaders wherever God calls them once their 2-year term1 is completed.

The Right Fit

To make this program successful, we need graduates who would flourish in our church. The candidates we are looking for must fit in with our ethos and flow with the vision of the house. Some of the qualities and competencies we are looking for are:

· a willingness to sacrifice

· a growing prayer life

· a love for people

· a heart for the unchurched and unsaved

· a willingness to work hard

· a love for the Word of God and willingness to teach others

· a good standard of computer literacy (preferably)

· effective communication skills

· adaptability and flexibility

· an ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines

· a team player

· an excellent spirit

Program Overview

1. Objectives

To intentionally seek to develop Graduate Interns to be:

· effective shepherds;

· skilled administrators;

· proficient organizers;

· effective ministers; and

· relationally confident;

2. Areas of Development

We aim to achieve the above objectives though:

· the hands-on use of practical ministry skills;

· being involved in the development, maintenance and improvement of the church’s administrative systems;

· the expansion of their information technology skill-base;

· their organization of particular church events, programs and services;

· their attendance at specific church training events and programs, plus time off to study in the Tung Ling Seminary;

· their involvement in particular church projects as both a team leader & team member.

· experience in a multicultural setting for candidates from overseas.

3. Responsibilities & Oversight

The Graduate Intern will be assigned a Staff-Member Mentor, who will discuss and set personal growth objectives for the Trainee which they will evaluate together on a monthly basis. The Mentor would also provide opportunity for the Trainee to discuss any problems or difficulties they might be encountering, as well as provide prayer support.

The Graduate intern will report directly to the Mentor assigned. Expectations, responsibilities and tasks of the Trainee will be agreed by the Mentor in conjunction with the Senior Pastor and will be reviewed and amended (if necessary) on a quarterly basis.

The graduate intern will work in the Church office from 8.30am-5pm, Monday to Fridays, and from 8.30am-1pm on Saturdays. They are also expected to attend church services, Cell Meetings, Prayer Meetings, and other events and training programs when specified.

4. Performance Evaluation

The Graduate Intern will be appraised by his/her Mentor on a quarterly basis according to the expectations, responsibilities and tasks designated above.

5. Special Projects

Over the course of the 2-year1 program the Graduate Intern, under the supervision of the respective head(s) of department, and in conjunction with the church’s Youth Pastor’s, may be expected to pioneer a new college or school based-work.

During the Graduate Interns’ final 3 months he/she will also be expected to:

· produce a report based on their analysis of a designated aspect of the churches operations with a view to evaluating its overall performance and making positive suggestions for its future improvement;

· organize and oversee a special youth event, upon receiving approval for a budgeted proposal, produced and submitted by the Trainee.

6. Opportunity to further Studies

After the 2-year1 program, the Graduate Intern, would have an opportunity to further his studies in a Masters program, offered by Mattersey Hall, the largest Pentecostal Bible College in Europe, in conjunction with Tung Ling Seminary, Malaysia.

Remuneration Package

The Graduate intern will receive:

· RM300 in pocket money each week to cover food, transport to/from work and other basic expenses.

· Legitimate travel expenses incurred during office hours will be reimbursed according to FGT’s standard travel claim process.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed preliminarily via Skype.

Application forms should reach us not later than August 31st of the preceding year, for the following year’s Internship Program.

Apply early as places are limited each year.

Note:

1. Please note that that the Program may be shortened due to government visa requirements.

2. Preference is given to those with a Masters degree. Those who do not possess a basic diploma would normally not be considered.
